Through The Eyes Of A Child - A Child's Testimonial
6-year-old Laura Fugate of Kentucky, uses her Telesensory Aladdin Ambassador to scan her favorite book about baby animals. A synthesized voice reads aloud the fine printed words that Laura is unable to read on her own.
Jennifer Fugate, Laura's mother, initiated the communications with the Sally show, hoping this nationally syndicated talk show known for it's "Make-A-Wish" segments could create special memories for her daughter.
Since birth, Laura has suffered from Retinitis Pigmentosa, a hereditary, degenerative eye disease resulting in reduced dim light and peripheral visual function. Currently her day vision is stabilized with corrective lenses, but she is lacking any night vision capability. The Fugate family is all too familiar with the affects of this disease, already having touched several family members.
On the June 8th segment of the Sally show, an Aladdin Ambassador reading machine was presented to Laura and her family resulting in a young child being given the opportunity to hear books come to life.
For the first time Laura is able to experience the joy of words due to the generosity of a company who cares and a talk show that believes in reaching out to the community.
Telesensory low-vision products continue to give assistance to those affected by a variety of eye conditions. Thousands across the country have already seen the benefits for themselves.
If you know someone struggling with low vision, there is an Aladdin able to make their wishes a reality. There is hope.
