Aladdin Rainbow User Becomes LV Community Activist

"I've had an Aladdin Rainbow for seven years," says Vivian, "...and I would not have missed having this for anything! I want other people to benefit from these machines, too."

At 82 years old, Vivian Childers is still sharp as a tack. Not only is she a great-grandmother to 32 little ones, but she also has those her own age to look after. Vivian serves as a sort of community liaison for her assisted living center.

Recently, she recruited a Telesensory representative to address a full house on coping with macular degeneration and glaucoma. "I've had an Aladdin Rainbow for seven years," says Vivian, "... and I would not have missed having this for anything! I want other people to benefit from these machines, too."

Vivian's glaucoma requires her to use about two-thirds of the Rainbow's available magnification. This comes in handy when viewing cards, letters and pictures from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. "When I talk to people with visual impairments, I ask them, 'Are you telling me that for the last few years, you've been unable to read, see, live, etc.?' That's not living!" She adds that since day one, she has shipped her Rainbow all over the country, even when spending a week with a friend. Vivian relies on the Rainbow's color select combinations when reading the scripts from plays frequently. "I recommend my reading machine to everyone, because I could not get by without it, and they shouldn't have to, either."
